The SangSom 6-Red World Championship 2018 was an invitation tournament of the Snooker Main Tour of the 2018/19 season in the special format Six-Red-Snooker , which was held from September 3rd to 8th in the Convention Center in Bangkok . For the tenth time since 2008, the 6-Red World Championship was held in the Thai capital.

The defending champion was Welshman Mark Williams , who was eliminated in the round of 16 against Mohammed Shehab , the only amateur in the finals. Kyren Wilson won the final against 2016 winner Ding Junhui 8-4 and took his first 6-Red world title. After the Paul Hunter Classic 2018 it was the second tournament victory in a row for the Englishman and the third Main Tour victory in his career.

Group stage

As in the previous year , there were 32 participants. 16 professionals from the Main Tour were invited, including world number one Mark Selby and reigning world champion Mark Williams as defending champion. 6 players qualified via continental tournaments or the WSF Championship . The organizing committee of the tournament selected 10 more amateurs.

For the preliminary round, the field was divided into eight groups, each consisting of four players. They played against each other in round robin mode, the two best in each group reached the round of 16.
