The Indian Open 2019 was a snooker tournament of the main tour - 2018/19 season , which took place from February 27 to March 3, 2019 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Kochi , India . The tournament was originally scheduled to take place from September 18-22, 2018, but was postponed due to the flooding in Kerala in August 2018.
Many top players did not register because of the low value of the tournament, including the top 3 Mark Selby , Ronnie O'Sullivan and World Champion Mark Williams .
In the first round, the Chinese Zhou Yuelong managed the 150th maximum break . It was the season's 11th 147 break and Zhou's first.
The winner was the Englishman Matthew Selt , who won the final 5: 3 against the Chinese Lü Haotian and thus took his first rankings title. Selt had previously defeated defending champion John Higgins from Scotland in the semi-finals .
Prize money
There was no change in the prize money compared to the previous year. This made it one of the five smaller tournaments of the season.

The games of the final round were played in best-of-7 mode up to and including the semi-finals . Only in the final was the Best of 9 mode , which means that the player who won 5 frames first won.

qualification
The qualification took place on August 15 and 16, 2018 in Preston in the north-west of England . The town's Guild Hall hosted most of the qualifying round matches with 128 players. 110 professionals had registered for the tournament, 6 amateurs received a wildcard from the Indian association. The remaining places were given to the best players in the Order of Merit from the previous Q School .
6 games, including those of defending champion John Higgins and the wildcard games, were played in India just before the main tournament began. All games were played in best-of-7 mode . The number 3 and 4 seeded Neil Robertson and Mark Allen were originally supposed to play their qualifying games in Kochi, but both of them canceled the tournament.

11 players scored 11 breaks of 100 or more points in the qualifying round. Pakistani Hamza Akbar achieved the highest century break with 135 points .
