Mei Xiwen ( Chinese  梅希文 , Pinyin Méi Xīwén ; born October 8, 1982 ) is a Chinese snooker player from Hubei Province .

Career

Mei Xiwen first appeared in 2007 when he started with a wildcard and reached the main round of the China Open with a victory over Alfred Burden . There he was defeated by Shaun Murphy .

Two years later he was after a successful season in the final of the Asian Cup, which he lost to James Wattana . The Asian billiards association ACBS then nominated him for the Snooker Main Tour 2009/10. At the first ranking tournament of the season in Shanghai, however, he was refused entry and at the following tournaments there were opening defeats for him. It was only at the China Open that he achieved his first victory in the first qualifying round. At the final World Snooker Championship in 2010 he managed another victory, but it was not enough to assert himself on the professional tour.

At the 2010 Shanghai Masters he reached the main round of a world ranking tournament for the second time in his career by defeating Mike Dunn in the wildcard round. In the years that followed, he tried to return to the Main Tour via the Q School and the Asian Players Tour Championship , but to no avail. His best results were reaching the round of 16 at the APTC tournaments in Zhangjiagang in 2012 and 2013 .

For the 2016/17 season , Mei then received one of the two nominations from the Chinese Association for the Main Tour, each of which is valid for two seasons. He had his greatest success at the Shanghai Masters when he defeated Dominic Dale and then Graeme Dott 5-1 and 5-0 respectively in qualifying and then beat Mark Williams 5-3 in Shanghai . It wasn't until the round of 16 against Ryan Day .
