The Shanghai Masters 2016 was a snooker tournament as part of the Snooker Main Tour of the 2016/17 season , which was held from September 19 to 25, 2016 on the Grand Stage of the indoor stadium in Shanghai ( People's Republic of China ). It was the tenth edition of the Shanghai Masters .
The defending champion was Kyren Wilson , who won his first ranking tournament last year. However, he was eliminated in the first main round. After 2013, the Chinese Ding Junhui won this tournament for the second time . He defeated the world champion and world number one Mark Selby in the final with 10: 6.
