Fang Xiongman ( Chinese 方 雄 慢 , Pinyin Fāng Xióng Màn ; born April 9, 1993 ) is a Chinese snooker player .
Career
amateur
In the 2012/13 season , Fang Xiongman took part in tournaments of the Players Tour Championship for the first time. After he was eliminated in the first round against Daniel Wells in the second tournament of the Asian part series , he managed a 4-0 first round win against his compatriot Li Yujin in the third tournament before losing 4-2 to Zhang Anda in the second round . In the 2013/14 season he took part in a full world rankings tournament for the first time; he received a wildcard for the Shanghai Masters 2013 and was only just 4-5 defeated by the Englishman David Gilbert in the wildcard round. In the Players Tour Championship 2013/14 he started in all four tournaments held in Asia. After reaching the second round at the Yixing Open 2013 , he made it to the second round at the Zhangjiagang Open 2013 , where he defeated Tian Pengfei , among others , in which he had to admit defeat to his compatriot Tang Jun 4-0. At the Zhengzhou Open 2013 he was eliminated in the second round, at the Dongguan Open 2014 in the round of 32 against the eventual finalist Liang Wenbo . In May 2014 he tried to qualify for the Main Tour through the Q School . After he was eliminated in the first round in the first tournament , he did not get past the second round in the second tournament .
In the 2014/15 season , Fang again took part in all PTC tournaments held in China, reaching the second round at the Yixing Open 2014 and the Haining Open 2014 and the third round at the Xuzhou Open 2015 . In September 2015 he took part as a wildcard player in a full ranking tournament, the Shanghai Masters , for the second time . There he succeeded with a 5-1 win against the Welshman Jamie Jones the entry into the main round, in which he was defeated by the then world champion Stuart Bingham with 2-5. A few days after he was eliminated in the first round at the Haining Open 2015 , the only Asian PTC tournament of the 2015/16 season , he lost 6-2 to Daniel Wells in the wildcard round of the 2015 International Championship . In May 2016, Fang qualified for the Main Tour seasons 2016/17 and 2017/18 through the Q School . In the decisive match of his group against Daniel Womersley he initially took the lead 3-0 and was finally able to prevail 4-3 after a chase by the Englishman.
Professional years
The 2016/17 season started for Fang with a surprising victory over Stephen Maguire in qualifying for the Riga Masters , where he lost to the then amateur player Andy Hicks in the first main round . At the Indian Open he defeated his compatriot Li Hang in the qualification, but lost in the wildcard round to the Indian Pankaj Advani . He missed the World Open , Shanghai Masters and European Masters by defeating Stephen Maguire (0: 5), Eden Sharav (0: 5) and Shaun Murphy (3: 4). He also failed to qualify for the International Championship after beating Luca Brecel 2: 6 . At the Northern Ireland Open and the UK Championship , for which one did not have to qualify, he lost in the first round to Anthony McGill 2: 4 and Ricky Walden 0: 6. The Scottish Open also had no qualification and Fang defeated Martin O'Donnell 4-2 in the first round , then lost 4-0 to Mark Allen . He narrowly missed the German Masters , after wrestling Michael Wild in the decider , he lost to Mark Selby in a white wash . The Welsh Open ended for him with a 1: 4 against the Norwegian Kurt Maflin in the first round. In the shoot-out , Fang was able to reach the second round with a 68:37 on points against Adam Stefanow , where he lost to Anthony Hamilton 0: 115. At the Pro / Am tournament Gibraltar Open he defeated the amateur Mitchell Grinstead before losing 3: 4, so again in the decider, to Daniel Wells . He missed the China Open with a 3: 5 in the qualification against Li Hang and also at the end of the season, the Snooker World Championship he lost in the qualification, but only in the second round 4:10 against Mark King after he beat Zhang Anda with 7: 10 had defeated. In the first game of the new season , Fang lost 4-1 in the qualifying game for the Riga Masters against Mark Joyce . He also lost the qualifying game for the China Championship 3: 5 against Chris Wakelin . He survived the first round of the Paul Hunter Classics just 4: 3 against Sanderson Lam , but then lost to Paul Davison . He lost the qualifiers for the Indian Open and the World Open to Graeme Dott 3: 4 and to Thepchaiya Un-Nooh 1: 5. In contrast, he survived the qualification for the European Masters , he defeated Rod Lawler , but then lost 4-0 to the Australian Neil Robertson . He won the wildcard round of the English Open 4-0 against Joe O'Connor and was also victorious in his first round game against Mark King. In the following round he was defeated by Stuart Bingham . In contrast, he lost the qualifications for the 2017 International Championship and the Shanghai Masters with 4: 6 against Peter Ebdon and 4: 5 against Matthew Stevens . At the Northern Ireland Open , he benefited from Luca Brecel's voluntary surrender , before losing 4-1 to Chris Wakelin. At the UK Championship he lost to Mike Dunn in the first round and 2: 4 to Marco Fu in the second round of the Scottish Open , after defeating David Gilbert 3: 4. He missed the German Masters with a 4-5 defeat against Yuan Sijun . The shoot-out was over for him in the first round, he lost with 47:53 on points against Liam Highfield . The Welsh Open, on the other hand, was a success . He survived the first round with a 4: 3 against Yuan Sijun, in the second round he defeated Chen Zifan 2: 4. It was only in the round of 32 that he lost to Barry Hawkins 2-4 . The Gibraltar Open went even better . In the first round he defeated the German Lukas Kleckers 4-2 and in the next round Hammad Miah also 4-2. He sealed his place in the round of 16 with a 4: 3 over Brandon Sargeant , before he lost 4: 1 to the eventual winner Ryan Day . But after the two successes two defeats followed: In the qualification for the China Open he was defeated by Martin Gould with 2: 6 and in the first qualifying round of the Snooker World Championship he lost with 8:10 against Lü Haotian . Fang finished the season in world number 90 , which was not enough for a qualification for the next season.
Try again
Fang immediately tried again through Q School. In the first two tournaments he lost two times in the third round of his group; first against Barry Pinches , then against Jeff Cundy . In the third tournament he made it to the group finals, but lost 4-1 to Thor Chuan Leong , so that he did not immediately regain his professional status.
