final
In the finals, the 7-time title holder at world rankings tournaments Shaun Murphy met Luca Brecel , who had only been in a big final at the German Masters 2016 and lost. Murphy got off to a better start and took a 3-1 lead with a Century and two other high breaks until the break in the first session. After the break, however, the frames became more competitive and Luca Brecel almost always benefited from it. The Englishman was only able to secure the ninth frame on the finish line and limit the damage with an intermediate score of 4: 5. In the evening session, however, the process continued. The 22-year-old Belgian secured the first two frames point by point and only in the third frame Murphy came to a smooth break and reduced it to 5: 7. A small preliminary decision was then the next frame. The Englishman seemed on the road to victory and missed the decisive ball. Brecel cleared the table and won with a difficult black man along the board by one point. With this sense of achievement he went into the break. Then Murphy tried in vain to get back into the game, but even with a longer duel for foul points he could not embarrass the Belgian. Brecel made his points unimpressed and won his first Main Tour title 10: 5.
