Soheil Vahedi ( Persian سهیل واحدی, DMG Sohayl Vāḥidī ; * March 15, 1989 ) is an Iranian snooker and pool player .

Career

At the U21 Asian Championships in 2008 , 2009 and 2010 Soheil Vahedi reached the quarter-finals. At the amateur world championship in 2008 he reached the semifinals and was defeated by the Irish Colm Gilcreest 5-7. In July 2009 he was eliminated from the snooker competition of the World Games in the semifinals against David Grace . He lost the bronze game 2: 3 to Mohammed Shehab . A few days later, he moved into the final of the U21 World Cup and was only slightly defeated 8: 9 by the Thai Noppon Saengkham . In October 2013 he reached the round of 16 at the IBSF 6 Red Snooker World Championship . In 2015 he made it to the round of 16 again. At the 6-Red World Championship 2015 , an invitation tournament as part of the Main Tour 2015/16 , he was eliminated in the preliminary round. At the amateur world championship in 2015 he lost 4-5 in the round of 16 to Maltese Alex Borg . In 2016 he reached the round of 16 at the Asian Snooker Championships and the Six Red Asian Championships. In November 2016, Vahedi became amateur world champion with an 8-1 final win against Andrew Pagett from Wales and qualified for the Main Tour Seasons 2017/18 and 2018/19 .

English billiards

In the English Billiards competition of the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games 2013 , he was eliminated in the round of 16 against the Vietnamese Nguyen Thanh Long .

Pool

In 2011 Vahedi reached the round of 64 at the 9-ball world championship and was defeated there by the eventual world champion Yukio Akakariyama with 7:11. At the Chinese 8-Ball World Championship 2016 he was eliminated in the round of 32 with 10:13 against the then 9-ball world champion and world number one Ko Pin-yi .
