Ricky Walden (born November 11, 1982 in Chester ) is an English snooker player .

Career

Walden made his professional debut in 2000. He was considered one of the most talented young players and within a very short time he also climbed by around 30 world rankings . His first outstanding result was the quarter-finals of the China Open 2005 . Even with the not for World Snooker Tour scoring Swiss Open he could make 2005 his skills when he entered the finals and Ken Doherty with 5: 3 defeated.

In 2008 he won his first full ranking tournament with the Shanghai Masters . He defeated Ronnie O'Sullivan 10-8 in the final . For this success he got a wildcard for the following Masters . In the course of the 2010/11 season he made it into the top 16 for the first time, but shortly afterwards he fell out of this select group again.

At the minor ranking tournament of the PTC series Warsaw Classic 2011 he was only defeated in the final to Neil Robertson . At the 10th PTC event in 2011 he managed his first maximum break against Gareth Allen - it was the 81st official maximum in snooker history. At Wuxi Classic 2012 he won his second ranking tournament when he in the final Stuart Bingham defeated.

At the Snooker World Championship in 2013 Walden moved for the first time in his career in the semi-finals of a world championship, which he lost to Barry Hawkins at 14:17 .

In August 2013 he won the Bluebell Wood Open with a 4-3 victory in the final over Marco Fu .

In September 2014 he reached the final of the 6-Red World Championship , but lost to Stephen Maguire 7-8. In early November 2014 he won the International Championship with a 10-7 final win over Mark Allen . At the Indian Open 2015 he reached the final, but had to admit defeat 0: 5 to Welshman Michael White . Then he was in 6th place in the world snooker rankings for the first time.

In October 2015 he reached the final of the Haining Open ; he lost to Ding Junhui 3: 4 after he had already led 3: 1. At the final tournament of the Players Tour Championship 2015/16 he also made it into the final, losing 6:10 to Mark Allen. Immediately afterwards he also reached the finals at the China Open , but lost again: He was defeated by Judd Trump 4:10.
