The 2010/11 snooker season was a series of snooker tournaments that were part of the Main Tour .
Due to the change in the board of the World Professional Billiards & Snooker Association there were some innovations for this season. For the first time since the 1997/98 season a full ranking tournament took place in Germany. The traditional Grand Prix was renamed World Open and the mode changed drastically (shorter matches and admission of amateur players). In addition, the Premier League Snooker , which had existed since 1987, became part of the Main Tour for the first time.
The Jiangsu Classic , introduced in 2008, was renamed the Wuxi Classic . There were also three new invitation tournaments in the Main Tour calendar: the day event Power Snooker , the World Seniors Championship and the Snooker Shoot-Out .
The Players Tour Championship , which is intended for professionals and amateurs and offers players the opportunity to compete under competitive conditions more often than before, has also been introduced. These events are reflected in the snooker world ranking as minor ranking tournaments - albeit with a lower score.

World ranking
Starting with the 2010/11 season, the snooker world rankings will be updated several times during the season. The updated ranking list then forms the basis for the seeding list for the following tournaments. The first update was made on October 4th, 2010 (after the second tournament of the EuroPlayers Tour Championship ). Another update came on December 13th after the UK Championship , the last followed on February 21st after the Welsh Open .
On the one hand, this change in the rules reflects the current level of performance of the snooker player better, on the other hand, the same players should not meet again and again. As before, the ranking list covers a period of 24 months in order to prevent a player with only one big tournament win from being able to quickly establish himself at the top of the ranking list. Rather, you want to see continuous good performance rewarded.
For the following season, the players ranked 1-64 end of the season qualified, and in addition the green marked player
