Paul Davies (born June 22, 1970 in Newtown ) is a Welsh snooker player . He currently lives in Cardiff .

Career

Davies was a pro on the Snooker Main Tour between 1991 and 2011 . He made it into the extended world class pretty quickly and was able to play his way up to the semi-finals of a ranking tournament twice ( Dubai Duty Free Classic 1991 and Asian Open 1993). He also made it to the finals of the Strachan Challenge in 1994 , which, however, did not have ranked status.

As a result, however, his performance stagnated, so that he could never make it into the top 32 of the world rankings. In 1997 he achieved another remarkable result when he finished second in the Benson & Hedges Championship ; the qualifying tournament for the Masters .

In almost 20 years on the Main Tour, he has never been able to qualify for the finals of the World Snooker Championship, although he failed only four times in his last qualifying match.

After a disappointing 2010/11 season , he had to leave the main tour.
