The Welsh Open 2011 was a snooker tournament on the Snooker Main Tour that was held in Newport from February 14-20, 2011 .
John Higgins defended his title 9-6 over Stephen Maguire in an all-Scottish final.
In the round of 16 Stephen Hendry managed the 77th official maximum break in the game against Stephen Maguire . For Hendry himself it was the tenth maximum break of his career, which meant he and Ronnie O'Sullivan shared first place in the list of players with the most maximum breaks.
