As a month before, two Englishmen were in the final: Tom Ford won the tournament 4-0 against Jack Lisowski . For both of them it was the first Main Tour final of their careers.
90 professional players and 76 amateurs had registered for the tournament. Due to the increasing number of professionals, there were only 38 free places in the main tournament. Therefore, the qualification of the amateurs was decided in two rounds this time. However, unlike before, this pre-selection did not take place on the day before the start of the tournament, but two weeks beforehand on July 24th. This led to 9 amateurs canceling their participation afterwards.
From August 6th, the main tournament was held in Sheffield with 128 participants. The top half of the seeding list played on Friday and the bottom half on Saturday. Three rounds were played each time. Sunday then began with the round of 16 and the remaining rounds followed over the day until the final in the evening.
In the third PTC tournament, Barry Hawkins achieved the second maximum break in tour history. Personally, it was his first break in 147. A total of 24 players managed 35 breaks of 100 points or more, 2 of which were achieved in the amateurs' qualification.
