Joel Walker (born March 16, 1994 in Sheffield , England ) is an English snooker player .
Career
Joel Walker first took part in professional tournaments in 2010. At the Players Tour Championship , which is open to amateurs , he competed in four of the five tournaments in his hometown of Sheffield and achieved a respectable success with a victory over world ranking player Liu Chuang . In May 2011, he tried to qualify for the Snooker Main Tour through the Q School . In the second tournament he made it to round four, but then missed the qualifier against Simon Bedford . The following year he took part in the English PTC tournaments again, but never got past the first round. He was twice unsuccessful at Q School, but then managed to qualify for the Main Tour for the next two seasons with a win over Justin Astley in the last tournament.
In his first year as a professional, the Englishman made it into the second qualifying round of a world ranking tournament only once by defeating Cao Yupeng at the Wuxi Classic 2012 . At the Scottish Open , he made it into the top 32 and defeated two top 32 players. He secured a few ranking points through this PTC tournament, which brought him to 90th place at the end of the season. The 2013/14 season began with Walker's successful qualification for the 2013 Wuxi Classic against Ian Burns . At the main tournament in China, he also won the opening game against Alex Davies and achieved his best result to date by reaching the round of 32 at a world ranking tournament.
At the end of the 2015/16 season , Walker was 79th in the snooker world rankings . This place was not enough for the remainder of the Main Tour, and the attempt to re-qualify directly via the Q School did not succeed.
