backgrounds
Uniform marketing of many sights in the Niederberg district of Mettmann led to the creation of the word Neanderland (proper spelling: neanderland). This brand name was derived from the name of the most famous sight, the Neandertal . The circular hiking trail connects the sights and natural spaces of the "Neanderland". It required investments of 675,000 euros. Work began in 2011. 97 percent of the route runs over existing hiking trails. Originally, a 66-kilometer, 5-stage contiguous section between Haan and Velbert was supposed to be opened in autumn 2012.
Connection routes
Between Neviges and Haan, the path runs parallel to the Bergischer Weg , which is also new .
