The Dortmunder Rundweg is an approx. 110 kilometer long circular hiking trail around the city of Dortmund . The hiking trail has a D in a circle as a signpost . The road signs are refreshed at regular intervals by the Sauerland Mountain Association . The hiking trail is designed in such a way that it is possible to connect to public transport at regular intervals (e.g. Groppenbruch stop, U-Brambauer) and can be walked in both directions.

Directions

A possible starting point is the Dortmund-Lütgendortmund train station. In a clockwise direction, after approx. 1 km, you cross the wooded Volksgarten Lütgendortmund , which has paved paths. After approx. 2 km follow the moated castle Haus Dellwig and then the district Frohlinde with the Mühlenbach that flows into the mill pond and the golf course along which the circular route leads. Then it rises slightly until it descends and rises relatively close to the western side of the federal motorway 45 in the Bodelschwingher Schlosswäldchen and leads to a forest cemetery belonging to the moated castle with a stone pavilion at the entrance. It runs over things along the Deininghauser Bach and then crosses the federal highway 42 . Now it leads over the district of Deininghausen into the nature reserve Beerenbruch with the Brunosee. In the Castrop-Rauxel district of Ickern, it then crosses the Emscher and close to it also the Federal Motorway 2 and faces the Dortmund-Ems Canal and on its western side, along it for the first time. You can get on and off again at the Groppenbruch stop . Via the Dortmund-Groppenbruch district, the hiking trail then returns to the Dortmund-Ems Canal, crosses it and this time runs along its eastern bank into the Groppenbruch nature reserve . Back on the A 2, he now reaches the Herrentheyer Wald nature reserve . In the street Kamphecke in Dortmund-Holthausen you will find the rest area to the three benches with a panoramic view of the landscape towards Dortmund-Mengede. From there, the Grävingholz nature reserve is reached in about 15 minutes on foot. Then there is another entry / exit point at the Waldesruh or Grävingholz stop of the Dortmund U 41 urban railway .
