Ian Glover (born November 8, 1978 in Doncaster ) is an English snooker player .

Career

Ian Glover started snooker at the age of 13 and made his first maximum break when he was 15 . At the age of 16 he was already playing on the Snooker Main Tour . In three of the following four years he was represented in professional tournaments, but could not establish himself as a professional player. After he failed to qualify for the tour for two years in a row, he turned his back on snooker in 2001.

In the 2009/10 season he played for the first time again at the Pontin's International Open Series for the qualification as a professional and at least reached the quarter-finals in one tournament. With the introduction of the Players Tour Championship, which is open to amateurs, the following year, he again played in professional tournaments and achieved successes there such as a victory over Mark Williams in the third tournament and the advancement among the last 32 in the fourth tournament of the 2010/11 series . However , he did not qualify for the professional tour via the Q School 2011. He continued to play many PTC tournaments in the years that followed. He was able to qualify twice for the playoffs in the EBSA Qualifying Tour , which was held parallel to some individual tournaments . While he failed to Patrick Einsle in 2013 , the following year he was able to win one of the three places on the Main Tour that were awarded at this event.

As a 35-year-old, he returned to the Main Tour after 15 years and was eligible to compete in the professional tournaments for the next two seasons. In the first two PTC tournaments of the 2014/15 season , in which he was now directly qualified for the main round, he reached the round of the last 32. In qualifying for the full ranking tournaments, however, he always failed in the first round. The following year he managed his only victory in a full ranking tournament at the Australian Goldfields Open against an amateur qualifier. After two victories at PTC tournaments, he was at the end of the season in the world rankings and fell out of the Main Tour again.

Ian Glover trains in Sheffield and Scunthorpe with Jeff Cundy and Ben Woollaston, among others . He is a semi-professional and also works as a driver for the Igloo company .
