The Pontin's International Open Series ( PIOS for short ) was a series of eight (per season) snooker tournaments , all of which were held at the Pontin's Snooker Center in Prestatyn ( Wales ).

History and meaning

The PIOS tour was introduced after the Challenge Tour, which was discontinued for cost reasons, was abolished .

According to a certain key (see section Distribution of points below) there were ranking list points for each tournament. The eight best players in the final bill received a ticket for the Snooker Main Tour and thus the right to participate in the most important tournaments of the following season.

Under Barry Hearn , the chairman of the World Professional Billiards & Snooker Association who took office at the end of 2009, the PIOS series was replaced in 2011 by the newly created Q School .
