EBSA Junior European Snooker Championship
The EBSA European Snooker Championship for Juniors is a snooker tournament hosted by the European Billiards and Snooker Association (EBSA).
history
The tournament was held for the first time in 1997; since then it has been held annually. Until 2010 it was held as a U19 tournament (i.e. for players who are 19 years of age or younger). Since 2011, the rules have been changed to U21 and thus aligned with the mode of the IBSF U21 World Championship and the ACBS U21 Asian Championship .
In addition, only players who are not playing the Snooker Main Tour at the same time are eligible to participate . Before there was a limit on the number of participants on the professional tour, only players below a certain position in the snooker world rankings were entitled to participate. Victory at the Junior European Championship has also been one of several ways to qualify for the Main Tour for some time.
The youngest ever winner is the Belgian Luca Brecel , who won in 2009 at the age of 14.
