Michael Leslie (born January 28, 1993 ) is a Scottish snooker player from Bonnyrigg near Edinburgh .
Career
PIOS tour, Q-School and PTC tournaments as an amateur
By participating in the PIOS tournament series of the 2009/10 season , Leslie tried to qualify for the main tour for the first time . However, he only reached the last sixteen at one of the eight tournaments, so that at the end of the season he only landed on 50th place in the overall ranking.
In the 2010/11 season he took part in the tournaments of the Q School , which had replaced the PIOS series. However, he only made it to the quarter-finals of his group in one of the three tournaments, so he was again unable to earn professional status.
During the 2011/12 season , Leslie participated in 5 of 12 tournaments in the 2011/12 Players Tour Championship . He met a professional ( Peter Lines , Luca Brecel and Martin Gould ) three times in the last 128 round and lost each time 2: 4.
EBSA Junior European Snooker Championship
Leslie took part regularly at the EBSA Junior European Snooker Championship and improved continuously from year to year. While he only made it to the last 32 in 2008, he made it to the round of 16 at the two following events. There he was defeated by the later professionals Luca Brecel (2009) and Sam Craigie (2010).
In the two following years he played his way into the final: After initially having to admit defeat to Kacper Filipiak 3: 6 in the 2011 final, he finally won in 2012 with a 6: 2 win over Shane Castle and thus qualified for the Main Tour of the 2012/13 season . He scored two century breaks .
Others
As the first Scottish amateur player, Leslie managed a maximum break in less than eight minutes in September 2011 .
