EBSA European Snooker Championship 2001
The 2001 EBSA European Snooker Championship was a snooker tournament of the European Billiards and Snooker Association . It was the tenth European continental championship and took place in the Latvian capital Riga .
The Belgian Björn Haneveer reached the final for the third time in a row and was able to secure the title for the second time since 1999 . He defeated Kurt Maflin 7: 6 in the final. For the Norwegian it was the first and most successful participation, he then began his professional career.

56 players took part in the group stage. They competed in eight groups with seven players each in round robin mode . The top two in each group qualified for the final round, which was played out in the knockout system .
