The 1998 EBSA U19 European Snooker Championship was the second edition of the European Junior Snooker Championship organized by the European Billiards and Snooker Association . It took place in Rabat , Malta . Welshman Ian Preece was European champion with a 7-3 win in the final against Northern Irishman Sean O'Neill . Defending champion was Irishman Thomas Dowling , who was eliminated in the quarterfinals against Preece and played the highest break of the tournament with 112 points.
