Career

Amateur time

Born in Leicester, Heathcote first appeared when he competed in qualifying matches for two Players Tour Championship events in 2012 . In 2014 he took part in the Q School for the first time, but was able to win only one game in two tournaments, as at the PTC events in 2012. In the same year he also took part in the qualification for the Ruhr Open 2014 , but also lost his opening game there. A year later he achieved the first major success when he at the U21 European Championship , among other Lukas Kleckers , Brian Cini and Chris Totten defeated and only in the final at Darryl Hill failed.

After he had also taken part in the Q School again in 2015 and had reached the round of 32 at the U21 World Amateur Championship , he participated largely unsuccessfully in several qualifications for PTC events. Furthermore, he also reached the round of 32 at the U21 European Championship and lost there to Alexander Ursenbacher . He also reached the round of 32 of the U21 World Amateur Championship .

In 2016, he reached the quarter-finals of his group at the first Q School event , where he lost to Cao Yupeng before taking part in numerous professional tournaments throughout the season, but always losing his opening games. After taking part in the Q School again without success in 2017, he was able to qualify for the main round at the Pro / Am events Paul Hunter Classic and Gibraltar Open , but lost there to Joe Swail and Yu Delu .

In 2018 he reached the third round of the English Amateur Championship before taking part in the three Q-School events, where the best result was a participation in the group quarter-finals at the second event . As a result, he qualified for the Challenge Tour 2018/19 , where he reached the second round twice. He also reached the semifinals of the southern elimination competition of the English Amateur Championship and lost there to Zak Surety .

In 2019 he dared to try again at Q School. While in the first event - after defeating Reanne Evans and Ng On Yee , among others - he failed in the group quarterfinals due to Si Jiahui, in the second event he defeated Brian Cini, Florian Nüßle and Aditya Mehta, among others, and finally in the final with 4: 3, after trailing 3-0, Si Jiahui . As a result, Heathcote, who in addition to the games as a snooker amateur was also a junior European 8-ball champion , qualified for the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons of the Snooker Main Tour .

Professional time

Heathcote's professional time began with the Riga Masters 2019 , where he promptly qualified for the main round with a victory over former tournament winner Ryan Day , in which he had to give up his game without a fight. Due to the cancellation of a flight from London Luton Airport to Riga a few hours before the start of the tournament, Heathcote was only one of many players who were unable to play their game. During the season Heathcote could reach the first main round in Riga equivalent round of the last 64; his best result was the round of 32 at the English Open . At the end of the season, he just missed such a round when he was already ranked 18th in the qualification for the snooker world championship. Ali had defeated Carter , but then lost to Alan McManus in the final qualifying round . Had he won the game, he would have entered the first main round of the World Snooker Championship with 32 participants at the Crucible Theater . At the end of the season, Heathcote was ranked 82nd in the 2019/20 snooker world rankings .
