The IBSF U21 World Snooker Championship 2016 was a snooker tournament that took place from August 20-25 , 2016 at Sunparks Kempense Meren in the Belgian municipality of Mol in the province of Antwerp . It was the 28th edition of the World Championship for U21 Juniors organized by the International Billiards & Snooker Federation .

The Chinese Xu Si became world champion with a 6: 5 victory in the final against the Swiss Alexander Ursenbacher and thus qualified for the Main Tour seasons 2017/18 and 2018/19 .

The 116 participants were initially divided into 24 groups in which they competed against each other in round robin mode . 72 players qualified for the final round, which was played in the knockout system .
