IBSF World Snooker Championship 1980

The 1980 IBSF World Snooker Championship was the ninth edition of the World Amateur Snooker Championship . It took place in the Albert Hall in Launceston on the Australian island of Tasmania . The Englishman Jimmy White became world champion with an 11-2 victory in the final against the Australian Ron Atkins .

mode

The 28 participating players were divided into four groups in which they competed against each other in round robin mode . The top two in each group qualified for the final round, which was played out in the knockout system .
