The 2016 IBSF World Snooker Championship was the 41st edition of the World Amateur Snooker Championship . It took place from November 19 to 29, 2016 at the al-Sadd Sport Club in the Qatari capital Doha .

Soheil Vahedi became world champion, defeating Welshman Andrew Pagett 8: 1 in the final, thus qualifying for the 2017/18 and 2018/19 Main Tour seasons . After Hossein Vafaei ( 2011 ) he was the second Iranian to win the title. Third place went to Northern Irishman Declan Brennan and defending champion Pankaj Advani from India.

Thai Issara Kachaiwong scored a maximum break in the round of 64 against Peter McCullagh . It was the first 147 series at an amateur World Cup since 2010 , when the Irish Rodney Goggins succeeded .

The 120 participants were divided into 26 groups in which they competed against each other in round robin mode . 78 players qualified for the final round, which was played in the knockout system from November 25th to 29th .
