Mohamed Ibrahim (born March 3, 1990 ), also Mohammed Ibrahim , Mohamed Alakrady or Mohamed al-Akrady , is an Egyptian snooker player . In 2018 he became African champion and then for a short time professional on the Snooker Main Tour .

Career

Mohamed Ibrahim took part in the African Championship in 2009 as a 19-year-old . He defeated South African ex-professional Peter Francisco 3-0 in the group round . Only in the quarterfinals did he lose to François Ellis , also an ex-professional from South Africa. At the U21 World Cup in the same year he also reached the round of the last 16. In 2010 and 2012 he was eliminated from the Africa Cup of Nations in the second round, but in 2011 he made it to the semi-finals and ended up fourth in the tournament. In 2012 he won his first continental title by beating Mohamed Khairy 8-4 at the African Championship in the Six-Red-Snooker variant . This also gave him an invitation to the Six Red World Championship , which was part of the professional tour calendar . Except for a 4: 5 defeat against English professional Mark Davis , he clearly lost all group games there.

Then it took three years for his next successes: At the African Cup of Nations 2015 he finished third behind the current professionals Hatem Yaseen and Mohamed Khairy , the following year he lost in the semifinals to Peter Francisco, who then won the tournament for the third time. Then he reached the round of 32 at the amateur world championship . Ibrahim won his second international title again in 2017 at the African Six Red championship with 7: 6 over Hisham Shouki. Finally, in May 2018, he also made it into the final of the regular continental championship for the first time and with a 6-1 win over Mostafa Dorgham he became African champion. Although there was no longer a nomination by the Africa Association for the Snooker Main Tour this year due to the restructuring of the associations , the world association had still reserved a place and gave the Egyptian a wildcard , equivalent to the entry authorization for the professional tournaments of the 2018/19 seasons and 2019/20 . But Ibrahim left the Main Tour voluntarily at the beginning of October.

In 2019 he took part in the African Games snooker competitions. In singles he finished fourth and in mixed doubles he won the bronze medal with Yara Sharaf .
