The XII. African Games 2019 ( French XIIèmes Jeux africains 2019 , English 12th African Games 2019 ) were a sporting event and took place from 19 to 31 August 2019 in Rabat . While Rabat was the eponymous main venue, competitions were also held in Casablanca , Salé , El Jadida and Benslimane .
In June 2016, the Games were awarded to Malabo , the capital of Equatorial Guinea . Due to economic problems, the country decided to give up the event. At the end of 2017, Lusaka ( Zambia ) was discussed as the new host, before Morocco was finally accepted in July 2018.
For the first time since 1999, no disabled athletes took part in the games. With the African Para Games 2020 you will receive your own games for the first time.
