The X African Games (French .: Xèmes Jeux africains , Eng .: 10th All-Africa Games ) were held from 3 to 18 September 2011 in Maputo , Mozambique instead.
In April 2005, Lusaka , the capital of Zambia , was chosen to host the 2011 Pan-African Games by the African Sports Council at a meeting in Algeria . A year earlier, Ghana had announced a possible application, but did not realize it. In December 2008, Zambia resigned from hosting the Games, as financial problems made it impossible to host the Games. Eight months later, in April 2009, Mozambique agreed to host the Games.
