The Algerian national volleyball team is a selection of the best Algerian players that the Algerian Volleyball Federation represents in international tournaments and internationals.

history

World championships

Algeria took part in a volleyball world championship for the first time in 1994 and finished in 13th place. Four years later it was only 19th place.

Olympic games

The only participation in an Olympic tournament so far ended in 1992 in Barcelona with the last place among twelve participants.

African Championships

At the first African Cup of Nations in 1967, Algeria only lost to Tunisia in the final. Then they were missing three times. In 1983 and 1987 the Algerians finished third, in 1989 they reached the final again, this time against Cameroon. Two years later they won their first continental title against hosts Egypt , which they successfully defended against Tunisia in their own country in 1993. After that, Algeria came third three times in a row. In 2001 the Algerians weren't there and in 2003 they finished fourth. In 2005 and 2007 she could not qualify again.

World cup

Algeria took part in the 1991 World Cup and finished ninth.

World league

Algeria has not yet played in the world league .
