The Egyptian national volleyball team for men is a selection of the best Egyptian players represented by the Egyptian Volleyball Federation in international tournaments and internationals.

history

World Championship

In the first participation in a volleyball world championship , Egypt finished 17th. Four years later there was a 23rd place. After the missed tournament in 1982, they finished fourteenth out of sixteen teams in 1986. In 1998 and 2002 there were places 20 and 19. At the 2006 World Cup , Egypt was eliminated in the preliminary round. The best placement was achieved in 2010 with 13th place.

Olympic games

In 1984 in Los Angeles , Egypt was represented at the Olympic Games for the first time and was tenth. At the 2000 Games, the Egyptians performed one place worse. In 2008 in Beijing they were eliminated after the preliminary round without a win and finished eleventh.

African Championship

In 1971, the Egyptians lost as hosts of the African volleyball championship in the final against Tunisia. In 1976 they became African champions for the first time against their hosts, Tunisia. After missing in the 1979 championship, they repeated their success in their own country in 1983. The title defense failed as fourth. From 1989 to 1995 they were alternately third and second, losing once to Algeria and once to Tunisia. After finishing fifth in 1997, hosts Egypt were stopped by the Tunisians in the final in 1999 and 2003. In 2001 the Egyptians were absent, in 2005 and 2007 they won two titles against long-term rivals Tunisia. In 2009 the title was successfully defended again, this time in the final against Algeria. In 2011, 2013 and 2015 the Africa title was won again. With a total of eight titles they are now record winners together with Tunisia.

World cup

In 1977 Egypt finished eleventh in its first World Cup . The best result so far came in 1985 in eighth place. In 1995 the Egyptians were eleventh again, in 2003 and 2007 they were twelfth and tenth.

World league

Egypt took part in the World League for the first time in 2006 and was eliminated in the preliminary round. In 2007 and 2008, the Egyptians did not get past 13th place either. In 2010 they landed in 14th place.
