Glencadam ( Scottish Gaelic : Gleann ghèadh-fhiadhaich; German: Valley of the Wild Goose) is a whiskey - distillery in Brechin , Scotland .
history
The distillery was founded in 1825. Despite its proximity to the South Esk River , the distillery's water is pumped from Loch Lee to Brechin. When Glencadam changed hands with Hiram Walker in 1954, the whiskey was mainly used for blends of the "Ballantines" brand. From September 2000 until sold to Angus Dundee Plc. in May 2003 the distillery was not active. After only the 15-year-old single malt has been bottled under its own name in recent years and parts have been sold to independent bottlers, a complete line of its own has been marketed under the name Glencadam since 2009.
