The Algerian national volleyball team for women is a selection of the best Algerian players that the Algerian Volleyball Federation represents in international tournaments and internationals.
history
World championships
At the first World Cup participation in Japan in 2010 , Algeria was eliminated without a win in the preliminary round.
Olympic games
In 2008 in Beijing , Algeria took part in the Olympic tournament for the first time, but remained without a win and finished eleventh after being eliminated in the preliminary round. Also in 2012 in London they came in eleventh.
African Championships
From 1991 to 2001 the Algerian women could not qualify for the African volleyball championship. In 2003 they finished fourth and in 2007 they were only defeated by hosts Kenya in the final. In 2009 Algeria became African champions for the first time in their own country, while in 2011 they again lost to Kenya in the final.
Africa Games
It was not until the third Africa Games in 1978 in Algiers that a women's volleyball tournament was organized. The Algerian women won the gold medal in front of their home crowd. Only 29 years after this victory, again in Algiers in 2007 , was it possible for the volleyball players to repeat this success again. In the following games in Maputo in 2011 , the team lost the final of the African Games against Cameroon and won silver.
World cup
Algeria ranked 11th in 2011 and 12th in 2015.
World Grand Prix
Algeria finished 20th in the only participation in 2013 .
