The Volleyball World Cup 2011 was the eleventh edition of the competition. It took place in Japan between November 4th and 18th . This competition was also considered a qualification for the 2012 Olympic Games . Italy won the title, and the USA and China also qualified for London 2012.
The twelve participants played four rounds, informally divided into two groups. The system was “everyone against everyone”, which means that each team had to play 11 games in 15 days (with 4 rest days). For a 3-0 or 3-1 win, the winner received three points and the loser no point. If the match was 3: 2, the winner received two points and the loser one point. The first three teams were each given a place for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
