Aurélie Halbwachs (born August 24, 1986 in Curepipe ) is a Mauritian cyclist .
Athletic career
Aurélie Halbwachs started cycling in the early 2000s on the advice of a nutritionist because she was overweight. Several times she has meanwhile been champion of Mauritius, where she is often the only woman in the peloton and she has to contest the races against men.
In 2006 Aurélie Halbwachs became the African individual time trial champion . In the following years she regularly achieved podium places at the African time trial championships and road races . In 2007 she won a Ladys Berry Classic race in France . In 2012 she became a Mauritian mountain bike champion .
Halbwachs started in the road race at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and finished 62nd; at the 2012 Olympic road race in London , she could not finish the race. At the 2011 African Games in Maputo , she won the silver medal in the road race.
In 2014 Halbwachs won the Cape Epic in the Mixed Teams category together with her partner Yannick Lincoln . In 2017 she became three-time African champion: in the individual time trial, on the road and in the mountain bike marathon . At the 2019 African Games in Benslimane , Morocco , she won the silver medal in road races, mountain bike XC and mountain bike marathons.

In 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2011 Aurélie Halbwachs was voted Mauritius' Sportswoman of the Year .
