Marissa van der Merwe , married. Stander , (born August 30, 1978 in Pretoria ) is a former South African cyclist .

Athletic career

In 2007, Marissa van der Merwe was the African road racing champion , after having taken podium places in this competition and national championships several times in previous years. In the same year she won the silver medal in the road race at the Africa Games in Algiers . In 2008 she became the South African champion in the individual time trial , took second place in the Africa Championship in time trials and road races and was 34th in the road race at the Olympic Games in Beijing . In 2011 she became the South African road champion. She competed four times at the UCI Road World Championships in 2005it took 24th place, 37th place in 2009 and 42nd place in 2010 ; In 2006 she did not finish. In 2012 she ended her sporting career.
