Vera Adrian (born August 28, 1993 in Windhoek ) is a Namibian cyclist who is active on the road and mountain bike . With eight national championship titles in one-day races , five in time trials and two in mountain bikes, she is the most successful Namibian cyclist of all time (as of 2020).

Athletic career

Vera Adrian already won four national titles in the road race and in the individual time trial in the youth and junior class . By 2016, she was Namibian champion eleven times in different age groups in both disciplines, and she won a title in the mountain bike marathon . She also took several podium places in African championships. In 2014 she competed at the Commonwealth Games in both road disciplines and cross country .

She has already taken part in the team several times in the 369-kilometer Desert Dash 24-hour mountain bike race from Windhoek to Swakopmund . In 2015 and again in 2016 she was able to win the extreme bike race.

In 2016 Vera Adrian became two-time African cycling champion in both road disciplines . She could only take part in the championships with the help of sponsors, as she did not receive any financial support from the association. At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , Adrian did not reach the finish line due to health problems in road racing.

In 2014, Vera Adrian, who is studying in Stellenbosch alongside her cycling career , was voted Namibia's Sportswoman of the Year .
