Nedbank Cycle Classic
The Nedbank Cycle Classic , also known as the Nedbank Cycle Challenge , is the most important and largest cycle race in Namibia after the Pick 'n Pay Cycle Classic . It is organized by Windhoek Pedal Power under the supervision of the Namibian Cycling Federation.
The race was part of the UCI Africa Tour in 2006 .
The Nedbank Cycle Challenge was first held in 1986 under the name Swabank Cycle Tour with 89 participants. The cycling race has been sponsored by Nedbank since 2001 .
The race takes place annually around Valentine's Day. Up to 1,300 cyclists take part in this over distances of 20 kilometers, 35 kilometers and 75 kilometers, and for some years also over 100 km, through the capital Windhoek . The time record for 75 kilometers was set in 2010 by Marc Bassingthwaighte with 1:48:37.
