The Nedbank Namibia is part of the South African banking group Nedbank . For legal reasons, Nedbank Namibia is largely detached from the South African parent company .
The bank was founded in Namibia in 1973 under the name Swabank (South West African Bank). It later became part of the German Commerzbank under the name Commercial Bank of Namibia . In 1994 Nedbank from South Africa took over the majority of the shares and renamed the bank to Nedbank. It is officially part of Nednamibia Holdings .
It offers financial services for private and corporate customers.
