The Munich city coat of arms on the city-side gable of the customs house

The house Wolfratshauser Straße 139 in Munich is a residential building that was formerly a custom house served. The building is registered as an architectural monument in the Bavarian list of monuments.

location

The house is located in the Thalkirchen district of Munich at the confluence of Großhesseloher Strasse and Wolfratshauser Strasse. The border between the districts of Thalkirchen and Solln runs just south of the house .

history

Between 1900, when Thalkirchen was incorporated into Munich , and the incorporation of Solln in 1938, the border between the two current districts of Munich was the outer border of the city of Munich. A customs house was built near this border in 1900 based on a design by Hans Grässel , where the paving duty was payable when entering Munich.

description

The house is one story with a steep pitched roof . The gable on the northeast side has a small porch; this used to be the entrance to the customs post. A bay window on the southeast side was probably also used as a switch. Also on the south-east side is a second entrance in a central projection with a gable, which used to lead to the customs overseer's apartment. Today the entire house is used as a residential building.
