Richarno Colin

(Louis) Richarno Colin (born July 17, 1987 ) is a Mauritian boxer . Colin is the 2011 Pan-African Games winner, 2011 African Championships winner and 2010 Commonwealth Games bronze medalist . He was also a participant in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games .

Career

2006 Colin took part for the first time in an international championship, the Commonwealth Games , but retired in the featherweight (-57 kg) starting in the preliminary round against Jason Hastie, Scotland (11: 7). The same happened to him at the Commonwealth Championships the following year, when he failed in the light welterweight (-64 kg) first fight to Kevin Bizier, Canada , and at the Pan-African Games in 2007 , when he played against Rachid Tariket, Algeria (RSC 3 .), lost. At the championships of the islands of the Indian Ocean 2007 he was able to win the silver medal.

In 2008 he took part in the African Olympic qualification tournament in Windhoek and was able to win it, which enabled him to qualify for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing . At the Olympic Games, Colin defeated Brazilian participant Myke Carvalho (15:11) in the first fight , but lost in the second to Gennadiy Kovalev, Russia (11: 2).

At the African championships in 2009 Colin won his first medal at international championships when he won the bronze medal after two wins and a semi-final defeat against Nacerddine Filali, Algeria (7: 4). The 2009 World Championships did not go any better for Colin after a group defeat against Levan Gvamichava, Georgia (21: 9), but this year he was able to win the Francophonie Games in Beirut .

After a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Championships 2010, Colin achieved the same placement at the Commonwealth Games 2010 after winning against Chris Jenkins, Wales (7-0), Luke Woods, Australia (8-3) and Philip Bowes, Jamaica (6-0) and a semi-final defeat against Bradley Saunders, England (10: 7).

2011 was Colin's most successful year so far: After winning the African Championships with a final victory over Barag Sid Ali, Algeria (15: 6), and also the championships of the Indian Ocean Islands, he was also able to win the Pan-African Games in 2011 . He beat Gomotsang Gaasite, Botswana (16: 4) in the semifinals , and Abderrazak Haouia, Tunisia (7: 5) in the final .

As in 2008, Colin took part in the African Olympic qualification tournament in Casablanca in 2012 and was again successful this time and qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games in London .

At the Olympic Games, he beat Abdelhak Aatanari , Morocco (16:10), against whom he had lost in the qualifying tournament , in the first fight , but lost in the second fight against the later bronze medalist Urantschimegiin Mönch-Erdene , Mongolia (15:12).
