Moulay Rachid

Moulay Rachid Prince of Morocco (born June 20, 1970 in Rabat ) is a son of King Hassan II of Morocco . He is a doctor of political science .

When his father died in 1999 and his older brother Mohammed VI. When he became king, Rachid succeeded him as Crown Prince of Morocco. Since his brother now has a son, Rachid is now second in line to the Moroccan throne.

In 1989, Rachid completed his school education with the Matura and then studied law at the Mohammed V University in Rabat, where he obtained the academic degree Bachelor of Laws ( LL.B. ) in 1993 . After stays abroad in the USA , he studied international politics in Rabat from 1993 and graduated in 1995 with a Master of Laws ( LL.M. ) degree, followed by a second degree in international politics in 1996 ( deuxième Certificat d'Etudes Supérieures, option Relations Internationales ) . Rachid has been a reserve major in the Moroccan Army since 2000 . In 2001 he received his PhD in international politics on the organization of the Islamic Conference at the University of Bordeaux-Montesquieu in France. Rachid was appointed général de brigade by his brother at the age of 30 .

In 2014 he married Oum Keltoum Boufarès, who was born in 1987, the daughter of the former Interior Minister Moulay El Mamoun Boufarès and the maternal granddaughter of Lalla Khadija , a cousin of Mohammed V. On June 23, 2016, their son Moulay Ahmed was born.

In addition to Arabic , he speaks French , English and Spanish .

Charges against Fouad Mourtada

On Feb 5, 2008, Fouad Mourtada was arrested on suspicion of stealing the prince's identity for a fake profile on Facebook . Although Moulay Rachid did not file a complaint, Mourtada was sentenced to three years in prison and a fine of 10,000 dirhams on February 23 of the same year . Following local protests and international criticism, Fouad Mourtada was granted a royal pardon on March 19, 2008, a few days before an appeal hearing.

Moulay Rachid promotes golf in Morocco. Under his leadership, the Hassan II Golf Trophy Association was created , which organizes and supervises the Hassan II Golf Trophy (donated by his father King Hassan II) on the fairways of the Royal Dar-Es-Salam Club in Rabat every year .
