Mohamed Khairy ( Arabic محمد خيري, DMG Muḥammad Ḫairī ; Born December 26, 1981 ) is an Egyptian snooker player .

Career

In 2012 Khairy finished second in the African Championship after losing 6-3 to South African ex-pro Peter Francisco in the final . Since Francisco did not accept the nomination for the professional tour, Khairy moved up and received a place on the Snooker Main Tour for at least two years. This made him the first African on a professional tour since the mid-1990s.

He took part in the 6-Red World Championship in Thailand in 2012 , but did not get past the last place in his group. He could not qualify for the first world ranking tournaments due to visa problems and also missed the tournaments of the PTC series . Around the middle of the season, the problems with the visa were resolved, so that he played his first professional match in qualifying for the Haikou World Open 2013 . He was defeated by Dechawat Poomjaeng from Thailand with 1: 5. Due to the many missed tournaments, he was at number 121 in the official world rankings at the end of the 2013/14 season and thus lost his place on the Main Tour.

In 2015 he reached the final of the African Championship again and this time lost to his compatriot Hatem Yassin 5: 6.
