Dechawat Poomjaeng (born July 11, 1978 ) is a Thai snooker player .

Career

Dechawat Poomjaeng had his breakthrough in international snooker in 2010 when he took bronze at the 2010 Asian Games and won the IBSF Amateur World Championship , qualifying for the Snooker Main Tour .

In his first year on the professional tour he showed his best performance at the Alex Higgins International Trophy 2011 , where he defeated Stephen Hendry and Stephen Maguire , among others , and only failed in the round of 16 against Ben Woollaston . He made it to the round of 16 again in 2012 at some PTC tournaments. He qualified for the first time at the German Masters 2013 for the finals of a full ranking tournament . There he lost to Barry Hawkins 2: 5.

Dechawat Poomjaeng's greatest success so far as a professional was at the 2013 World Snooker Championship when he defeated Stephen Maguire 10: 9 in Round 1 and reached the round of 16, which he lost to Michael White 3:13.

At the Wuxi Classic 2013 he reached the round of 32 with a 5-1 win against Dominic Dale . There he lost 5-1 to John Higgins .

For the finals of the Australian Goldfields Open 2013 , he was also able to qualify. He lost his first round match against defending champion Barry Hawkins 1: 5. In qualifying for the German Masters 2014 , he achieved the 101st maximum break in snooker history.

At the Paul Hunter Classic 2014 , a minor ranking tournament, Dechawat reached the quarter-finals with a victory over Neil Robertson . There were two more round of 16 appearances at the China Open 2015 and the UK Championship 2015 .
