The 1997 IBSF U21 World Snooker Championship was the eleventh edition of the Junior World Snooker Championship . It took place from August 17 to 31, 1997 at the Ivy Rooms in Carlow and was hosted by the International Billiards & Snooker Federation .
Marco Fu became world champion with an 11: 7 win in the final against Belgian Björn Haneveer . After Chan Kwok Ming last year, Fu was the second Hong Kong-based U21 world champion in snooker.
