The 2009 IBSF World Snooker Championship was the 34th edition of the World Amateur Snooker Championship . It took place from November 15 to 25, 2009 at the International Convention Center in Hyderabad . After 1963 and 1987 it was the third amateur snooker world championship in India .

The Englishman Alfie Burden became world champion with a 10: 8 victory in the final against the Brazilian Igor Figueiredo . Burden qualified for the Main Tour 2010/11 . In the game for third place, the Chinese Yu Delu defeated the Welshman Philip Williams 4-0.

mode

The 94 participating players were divided into 16 groups in which they competed against each other in round robin mode . The four best placed in each group qualified for the final round, which was played in the knockout system .
