The 2012 IBSF World Snooker Championship was the 37th edition of the World Amateur Snooker Championship . It took place from November 24th to December 2nd, 2012 at the Princess Hotel in Sofia . Originally the Egyptian Sharm el -Sheikh was planned as the venue, but due to the instable political situation as a result of the revolution in Egypt in 2011 the tournament was moved to the Bulgarian capital, where the U21 European Championship had already taken place in March .

World champion was Mohammed Asif from Pakistan, who defeated Englishman Gary Wilson 10: 8 in the final.

mode

The 102 participating players were divided into 20 groups in which they competed against each other in round robin mode . The three best placed in each group and two group fourth qualified for the final round, which was played in the knockout system .
