Jin Long ( Chinese  金龙 , Pinyin Jīn Lóng ; born May 23, 1981 in Liaoning Province ) is a Chinese snooker player .

Career

Jin Long began his professional career in 2001 and qualified for the first time for the Snooker Main Tour in his second year through his successful performance at the Asian and Chinese championships . After a year he fell out of the top 100 again, but made an immediate return via the Challenge Tour the following year.

In the 2004/05 season he succeeded in qualifying for the Grand Prix for the first time in a tournament, the jump under the last 48. Nevertheless, it would not have been enough to defend his Main Tour place, but by winning the Asian Cup in 2005, he moved in for a on the list of participants for the second year in a row. This time things went very badly for him and he fell out of the Main Tour again without a single win as the bottom of the ranking.

Then it took two years before he was able to qualify for the third time for the big snooker tournaments by winning again at the Asian Cup. The 2008/09 season was the most successful of his career so far. He was not only able to repeat reaching round 4 in the Grand Prix qualification, he also succeeded in the China Open ; at the UK Championship he reached round 3. As a result, he even moved up to 60th place in the world rankings, whereby he was already set for the second qualifying round the following year. But his inconsistent performance continued and only in the World Cup qualification could he show a victory at all, which is why he lost the Main Tour status again.

Jin Long had his greatest success so far in a Main Tour event at the 2010 Shanghai Masters , where he qualified as a wildcard player for the first time for the main round of a ranking tournament by defeating Robert Milkins . He repeated this success at the Haikou World Open 2012 when he beat Sam Baird as a wildcard player . At this tournament he even managed a surprise win in the first main round against his compatriot Ding Junhui , the country's most successful player.

For the 2013/14 season he was able to qualify for the Main Tour again via the Asian-PTC Order of Merit . However, he only appeared in tournaments on the Asian Tour, with the round of 32 being his best result.

The 2014/15 season , the second season of his two-year tour card, he no longer played because he did not renew his membership with the WPBSA .
