Adam Stefanów (born March 22, 1994 ) is a Polish snooker player .

Career

Adam Stefanów won his first junior title in 2009 when he became Polish champion in the U-16 and U-19 age groups. He was already in the finals of the U-19 European Championship for the first time a year , where he lost in the first round to the Belgian Kristof Vermeiren . In June 2008 he was eliminated from the preliminary round when he participated in the men's European Championship for the first time. At the U-19 European Championships in 2009 and 2010 , he was eliminated again in the round of 32. In July 2010 he took part in the U-21 World Cup for the first time and was eliminated there in the preliminary round. In 2010 he also managed to successfully defend his Polish championship title among the U-16s.

In the 2010/11 season Stefanów took part in two tournaments of the newly introduced Players Tour Championship . After he was eliminated in the opening tournament in the round of 128 against Graeme Dott , he also reached the main round at the Brugge Open 2010 by beating his compatriot Krzysztof Wróbel , in which he lost his first round match against the Chinese Liang Wenbo . In April 2011 he moved into the second round for the first time in the Junior European Championship, which is now held as a U-21 competition, with a 4-1 win over Jurian Heusdens , in which he lost to Robert Carlisle 3-4. In 2011 he was also the Polish U-16 champion for the third time in a row.

In the 2011/12 season Stefanów again took part in two PTC tournaments, but retired from both the second tournament of the season and the Warsaw Classic 2011 in the qualification. At the U-21 European Championship in 2012, he lost to the Welshman Jamie Rhys Clarke in the round of 16 . In July 2012, after a 5-2 win over Boonyarit Keattikun, he reached the round of 16 of the U-21 World Cup , which he lost 5-1 to Zhao Xintong . In November 2012, he made it to the final round of his first participation in the amateur world championship , in which he was eliminated 3: 4 in the first round against the Swiss Alexander Ursenbacher .

In March 2013, Stefanów reached the round of 16 of the U-21 European Championship after beating Kacper Filipiak , in which he was defeated 0: 4 by the Englishman Elliot Slessor . At the Men's European Championship in 2013 , after victories against Georgi Velichkov and Kristjan Helgason, he also made it into the round of 16, in which he was eliminated against Duncan Bezzina . A month later he made it to the round of 32 at the U-21 World Cup , losing to Jordan Winbourne . In the 2013/14 season he took part in three PTC tournaments. After he was eliminated in the preliminary round at the Kay Suzanne Memorial Cup and the Antwerp Open 2013 , he moved into the main round at the Gdynia Open 2014 and was eliminated in the round of 128 against Neil Robertson . At the U-21 European Championship in 2014 , he was eliminated in the round of 32 against Sascha Breuer .

In May 2014, he tried to qualify for the Main Tour via the Q School , but did not make it through the quarter-finals of the second tournament and thus missed the qualification. In June 2014 he was eliminated in the round of 32 of the European Championship against Eden Sharav . In 2014 he was also the Polish U-21 champion. In the 2014/15 season he only took part in one PTC tournament, the Gdynia Open , where he was eliminated in the first qualifying round. At the U-21 European Championship in 2015 , after victories against Amir Nardeia , Marvin Losi and Rodion Judin , he made it to the quarter-finals for the first time at an international championship, in which he was defeated by the German Lukas Kleckers 3: 5. A month later he became Polish men's champion with a 7-2 win over Mateusz Baranowski .

In May 2015, Stefanów took part in the Q School again, but again missed qualifying for the Main Tour after only reaching the round of 32 in the second tournament . At the 2015 European Championships , he again made it into the round of 32, in which he was eliminated by Lukas Kleckers. A few days later he formed the Polish team at the World Cup together with Mateusz Baranowski, which was eliminated with just one win in the preliminary round. In the 2015/16 season he took part in two PTC tournaments. After being at the Bulgarian Open 2015 was eliminated in the first round, he reached for the Gdynia Open 2016 Round of 128. In February 2016 moved it when in Wroclaw discharged European Championship quarter-finals and lost there to eventual finalists Jamie Rhys Clarke only just 4: 5. At the Polish championship in 2016 he was eliminated in the semifinals against the eventual winner Tomasz Skalski .

In March 2018, the Pole took part in the first ever WSF championship . He defeated Fraser Patrick and Igor Figueiredo , among others, and moved into the final. With a 6-0 defeat against Luo Honghao , he missed the qualification for the Snooker Main Tour associated with the tournament victory . But he got a starting place at the 2018 Snooker World Championship . There he won in the first qualifying round against Gary Wilson and so moved into the second round. After the World Cup, a player who had qualified twice for the Main Tour left another place available on the professional tour. The world federation therefore decided to give the runner-up in the WSF Championship a wildcard , which gave Stefanów the right to start in the professional tournaments of the following two seasons.
