Rafał Górecki (born August 8, 1982 in Warsaw ) is a Polish snooker player .
Career
After Rafał Górecki became Polish U-16 champion in 1996 and was able to successfully defend the title a year later in the tournament, which is now held as an U-15 competition, he made it to the finals of the Polish championship for the first time in 1998 . In a balanced final he was defeated by last year's finalist Marek Derek 4-5. In May 1998, Górecki was eliminated from the preliminary round at his first European Championship participation. A year later he reached the round of 16 of the U-19 European Championship and was defeated there by the Irishman Ian Smith . In 2001 he was eliminated in his only participation in the U-21 World Cup in the preliminary round.
In 2002 Górecki became Polish U-21 Junior Champion. In October 2002, he was eliminated from the group stage in his first amateur World Cup participation. Also in his second World Cup participation in 2004 , he was eliminated in the preliminary round. In 2006 he made it to the final of the Polish Championship for the second time, losing to Rafał Jewtuch 5: 7. In June 2008 he reached the finals of the European Championship for the first time , in which he lost in the round of 32 against Lee Page . In October 2008 he took part as a wildcard player in the third tournament of the World Series of Snooker 2008/09 and lost 4-0 to the Irish Ken Doherty in the quarterfinals .
In 2011 Górecki made it into the final of the Polish Championship for the third time. There he met Michał Zieliński , who had previously won the title twice in a row, and was able to prevail 7: 4. In September 2011 he took the first time in a PTC tournament, the Warsaw Classic in part, in which he carried a 4: 1 victory over the Englishman Kamil Zubrzycki reached the Round of 128, in which he with 0: 4 against Judd Trump lost . At the Gdynia Open 2014 , his second PTC tournament, he was eliminated in the preliminary round against his compatriot Karol Lelek .
