Thomas Hein (* 1966 ) is a German snooker player and trainer.

Career

Thomas Hein started playing billiards in 1980 . In 1997 he won his first title at the German Snooker Championship in the final against Marcus Westen . A year later he was defeated in the final against West before he became German champion for the second time in 1999 by beating Kurt Stock in the final . A year later he reached fifth place, in 2001 ninth place. In 2002 and 2004 he was again fifth, in 2003 and 2005 he was ninth. At the German Championships in 2007 and 2008 he reached the round of 16. A year later he made it to the semi-finals, which he lost 3-0 against the eventual German champion Patrick Einsle . In 2009 he was also German senior champion in the final against Olaf Thode . In 2016 he became German senior vice-champion and lost to his coaching colleague Frank Schröder with 0: 3 in the final.

In 2018 Hein was again German senior champion. He also plays with 1. SC Mayen-Koblenz and plays in the 1. Bundesliga .

Hein is national snooker trainer and snooker sports supervisor of the German Billard Union . He also runs a snooker school and is a co-developer of the playing ability test for snooker players.

He works as an expert for the television broadcaster Eurosport and particularly comments on the games of the Snooker World Championship together with Rolf Kalb . In 2006 he and Kalb published the book Snooker: The intelligent way to a better game .
